Young lion cub killed
Thursday, November 27, 2008 at 04:09PM Yesterday i was sent by the administrator down near the Serena Crossing, and when I was there i heard a very loud roaring of lions.
The day before yesterday i was just there trying to close tracks, and it was when i saw this lioness running very coward trying to hide from the other males. But then today I found that her young cub was killed by the male, bitten on the head and the abdomen.

The cubs are just two weeks ago as the eyes were just beginning to open - after 10 - 14 days they can open their eyes. I think one of the sons of Notch must have killed the young cub.
The Serena Crossing Pride is just five females, no males, and they are from the other side of the river. We were unable to see if there were any other young cubs as the females are now hiding in the croton bushes.

Oh Wilson, this is so sad. I know the little ones have a really tough time. It just doesn't seem fair!
was this one child of the lioness you mentioned on your last post? the one with two cubs? this pride has no male? why? and for how long? will the notch boys be this pride's leaders? that would be good for the pride, don't you think?
Always so sad - even more so as they are so cute (the saving grace is at least it was a natural death and not the act of man) Alas infanticide in the triangle was inevitable given the reported behaviour of 'Notch's lads recently, who have now reached that age when they are ready to start their own pride and sire cubs. The good news is that if the boys find there own pride it wont be long until their is the patter of tiny cubs feet again. All I can say is the Serena pride males needs to watch out to........nature is so harse sometimes...
This is just heartbreaking..
Oh this just breaks my heart, even though it is mother nature at work. Poor little baby.
