Help Us to Teach Trees!

Right, the website is slowly getting there (haraka haraka haina baraka), and our work and projects section is starting to fill up with more information about work, partners and supporters.

The latest addition is our Tree Teaching Project, which is not even a sapling yet but with a little time and attention it could grow into something quite impressive.

The gist of the idea is to teach local communities - starting with the schools - the importance and need to grow trees, and then give the knowledge and resources for this to be done quickly and efficiently (hopefully before Nyakweri forest is not a forest).

The kind people of Love Creative have set us off to a good start by designing this poster (a big big thank you to Chris and Simon):

The poster is in English, Kiswahili, Maa, Kalinjin and Kisii, and there are plans to make it also into a leaflet.

My kind sister has agreed to put together teaching packs, but any assistance with this is still appreciated as well as an illustrator to help with the teaching aids.

Lots of other stuff to do as well but I'll be posting these things up as time goes by.

So, right now, looking for an interested illustrator. Anyone?

Oh, and if you want to donate some money towards this project you can do so directly on our Tree Teaching page here.

GREAT job William,
I could translate in French, and can help with the teaching packs. Just contact me and I'll do whatever I can.

Will - What a great idea! Amazing that you already have two people volunteering to help illustrate and the Conservancy will kick start the project with a donation.

Again, since I don't do PayPal, I'll bring a donation in September.

Much success in this program since the children are Kenya's and the Mara's future and hopefully the parents will join in :>)

Thank you everyone!

I'm going to be in touch with you all by email, as there's still quite a lot to do and having two illustrators would help enormously. In fact, I'm going to keep throwing the ideas out on this blog to see what we can put together.

At the beginning of next month I'm going to have a meeting with Kamande and Care for the Wild and from that we hope to be able to focus on what should go into the teaching packs.

Hi William,

I would be available to do some illustration, and some writing and translation (English and French).
I can also help with designing and/or producing teaching packs, whatever needs you may have.
Congratulations on your work and this great website -

Interesting. Have a look at the book "Growing Trees and Gardens for Life" which we produced for schools in East Africa. It is available for download from http://www.worldagroforestrycentre.org/downloads/publications/PDFs/B15299.PDF
Let me know if you are interested in hard copies as well.

I'd be glad to help out, where I can. I'm happy to help design whatever you might need, or illustrate or whatever. :) If I can help with something, let me know?

Thank you everyone - I will be in touch by email as your offers cover all that we need and more, so I need to sit down and plan a little bit.
