Carnivore Research
The Kay E. Holekamp Lab is based at Michigan State University, with two field offices in the Masai Mara. The focus of the research is animal behaviour and physiology on the spotted hyena, as well as the separate and additive effects of anthropogenic activity on patterns of behaviour, demography and stress physiology of large carnivores in the Triangle, compared with those observed in carnivores inhabiting the eastern portion of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Ecosystem Sustainability in the Mara River Basin
Amanda Subalusky and Chris Dutton have been working in the Mara River Basin since May 2008, with authorisation and work permits from the Kenya Ministry of Water and Irrigation and in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Florida International University (FIU) and the Worldwide Fund for Nature- Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Programme Office (WWF-ESARPO).
