A total of 434 people were arrested by our rangers in 2016 – even if we remove the 115 people arrested for illegal logging and charcoal burning we still broke the record, set last year, of 318 arrests.
March was, for the most part, dry – with a few showers. This enabled us to burn the planned block with an ideal, slow, cool burn that did not damage the thickets.

The heavy rains continued throughout the first three weeks in June, with several exceptional storms along the escarpment resulting in severe flooding of the lower road to Oloololo.
