We had 20 days of glorious weather before the rains returned.  We then had ten days of heavy, localized thunderstorms. 

There was heavy and sustained rain, starting in the latter part of the first week of December. 

Most of November was relatively dry – unusual for this time of the year.  However, there were one or two storms at the very end of the month – this should signal the start of the rainy season.

The rains continued daily throughout most of October, with some exceptionally heavy storms along the escarpment and isolated storms over the rest of the Triangle.

We had over two weeks of rain starting on the 4th.  This rain was sufficient to turn all our burnt areas a brilliant green, filled some of the water courses - and attracted thousands of animals.

Kenya held a Referendum on the 4th August to decide on whether to accept a new Constitution. 

July was an exceptionally difficult month, characterized by injury, theft, murder and armed robbery. 

The rains continued through the first week of June, making it difficult to cut grass and grade the roads.  The rains eased off by the middle of the month, with a few sporadic thunderstorms.

We had very heavy rainstorms for the first three weeks of May, resulting in the Mara River flooding and cutting off the North Mara Bridge and the River road between Mara Serena and Oloololo Gate. 

We had a week of good weather at the beginning of the month, followed by heavy rain for a week. 

The heavy rains we had experienced in February continued into March, giving us the heaviest and most sustained rain we have experienced in years. 

We had few days of rain, starting the 3rd.  The rains stopped for a week and then resumed on the 16th, with some very heavy storms followed by all-night drizzle. 

There was exceptionally heavy rain in the last few days of December and first week of January, some of the seasonal watercourses flooded and the areas adjoining the river road became a foot-deep swamp.

The heavy rains continued into early October.  The weather then cleared and we had three weeks of glorious, sunny weather, interspersed with one or two days of rain – that is, until the 26th, when we had some exceptionally heavy storms and sustained rain for three days. 

August and September have been exceptionally wet in the Triangle.  This seems to have been the case throughout much of western Kenya, certainly West of Mount Kenya and the North Rift. 

We had several days of heavy and widespread rain, starting around the full moon in mid-August and continuing until the end of the month. 

We had a few heavy thunderstorms in the first week of July – more than enough to keep the grass green. 

The Mara Conservancy has been in the Mara for 10 years! – 12th June was our tenth anniversary.
